 Family Day in Alberta and British Columbia is Now the Same Date

Family Day was originally created to give people time to spend with their families and lessen the three-month holiday doldrum between New Years Day and Good Friday.  While not a national statutory holiday, it is a provincial statutory holiday in BC, AB, MB, ON and SK. 

In BC, the holiday has been observed for six years.  However, starting this year, the holiday will be on the third Monday in February (rather than the second Monday) to move it in line with other provinces. 

So, give your family a treat and start the day with some pancakes and maple syrup on Feb 18!
